(Springfield, IL) — Newly released details of a high-profile worker’s comp case show that a state prison guard collected 48-thousand-dollars in a settlement of his injury claim, even though he took part in a fishing tournament while on paid leave. Lance Fancher’s claim was settled last month, two years after the prison fight he said left him unable to work for nearly a year because of shoulder and wrist injuries. The department won’t say if the investigation of Fancher’s claim that was sparked by pictures of him during a fishing tournament is still going on. Fancher remains on the job at Vienna Correctional Center.
