Lawsuit Claims Hastert Mixed Public Office, Private Business

(Chicago, IL) — Former U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert has a different set of legal troubles to worry about. A federal judge is reviewing conversations between the FBI and a man suing Hastert to determine if Hastert’s lawyers should have access to them. J. David John, a former business partner, is suing Hastert and reportedly claims to have evidence that Hastert used a government-funded office to conduct personal business ventures. This suit doesn’t appear connected to the federal hush money case to which Hastert is reportedly negotiating a plea deal.
