United Way Charts Impact Of Budget Crisis

(Chicago, IL) — The United Way of Illinois says more than three-quarters of the state’s human service agencies have cut their programs because of the state’s budget crisis. A United Way survey of over 500 agencies finds that nearly a third say they could run out of money in a month. The budget impasse is now in its fourth month and lawmakers have been trying to put together a bill to fund some of these services even though no overall budget is in place.
