(East St. Louis, IL) — Several East St. Louis parents are demanding that the local school board find a way to end the more than three week long teacher’s strike. The same request was also made by students and religious leaders at yesterday’s board meeting. Meanwhile, School Board Superintendent Arthur Culver told the “Post-Dispatch” that he is optimistic about their most recent counter proposal. He added that the East St. Louis Federation of Teachers has not turned down the offer but asked for more details. The information is expected to be presented to the union this morning.
