(MT. VERNON, IL) — A 25-year-old Mt. Vernon man remains in the Jefferson County Jail, after he was arrested Sunday for allegedly beating a woman severely. According to reports, around 2 a.m. Sunday, Jefferson County deputies and a Mt. Vernon police officer responded to a Mt. Vernon hospital in reference to a female who had been severely beaten. Mt. Vernon police detectives ultimately arrested Michael Tinsley in connection with the battery. Tinsley was taken to the Jefferson County Jail, where he remains with formal charges filed against him of two counts Class 2 felony aggravated domestic battery, with one count including strangling, and one count Class 3 felony aggravated battery resulting in great bodily harm. Bail for Tinsley has been set at $200,000. More charges are likely, pending further investigations.
