(WAYNE COUNTY, IL) — Three people were involved in a single-vehicle crash on westbound I-64 in Wayne County Sunday. Illinois State Police say around 11:10 a.m., 47-year-old Robert L. Meek of Pana was driving his van west on I-64 near mile post 97 when he left the roadway and drove into the median. Once in the median, the van struck and embankment, causing it to go airborne. When the van hit the ground, it overturned and came to rest on its tires before catching fire. Meek, along with two passengers, 43-year-old Jeremy D. Keller and 36-year-old Tonya M. Keller, both of Pana, were able to escape the burning vehicle. Meek and Keller were both taken by ambulance to an area hospital. Keller was airlifted from the crash scene to an Evansville hospital. The vehicle had to be towed from the crash scene. State police say charges are pending. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
