Mitsubishi Workers Voting On New Deal

(Bloomington, IL) — About 950 members of the United Auto Workers will vote tomorrow on a tentative contract with Mitsubishi, even though the company is shutting down the plant in Bloomington. Production is expected to end November 30, and layoffs will begin then with a final closure expected in May. Union leaders say the new contract is needed to guarantee that work rules and the treatment of retirees are protected during the shutdown process.
