Effingham, IL– Illinois State Police District 12 Commander, Captain Kelly Hodge, Tuesday announced activity and enforcement figures for the month of September. Troopers in District 12, which includes Clark, Clay, Crawford, Cumberland, Effingham, Fayette, Jasper, Lawrence, Marion, and Richland Counties, answered 234 calls for service and initiated 1,487 incidents in the field. In addition, enforcement figures totaled 802 citations and 931 written warnings, including 445 speeding citations, 12 DUIs, 68 seatbelt citations, 3 child restraint citations, 931 written warnings for speeding, and 35 criminal arrests. Troopers also assisted 230 motorists, conducted 431 Motor Carrier Inspections, and investigated 66 traffic crashes. District 12 investigated 1 fatal traffic crash in September. During the month, 321 citations and 268 written warnings were issued for ‘Fatal Four’ violations. These violations are most associated with fatal traffic crashes and include Speeding, DUI, Failure to Wear a Seatbelt, and Distracted Driving.
