Governor Rauner Planning To Sell Thompson Center In Chicago

(Chicago, IL) — Governor Rauner is planning to sell the James R. Thompson Center in downtown Chicago. Rauner announced yesterday he would like to auction off the 30-year-old building so it could be torn down and rebuilt privately. The state employees working there would be relocated. The governor says the move would save taxpayers up to 12-million-dollars a year while also generating 20-million-dollars annually for the city. The goal is to have the transaction completed within a year.
