(East St. Louis, IL) — The East St. Louis teachers strike enters its tenth day. Union officials and school officials plan to meet with a federal mediator at an undisclosed place for a second time since the walkout started. The school board held an emergency meeting yesterday and approved a resolution that permits athletic teams to continue practicing. The panel also talked about what steps need to be taken if an agreement is reached and school resumes. As the strike continues, close to six-thousand children are out of the classroom.
