(BENTON, IL) — You can get rid of your expired, unused or unwanted prescription drugs Saturday during the Ninth Annual National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. This program allows you to dispose of medications in a safe and easy way. It’s also a good way to keep your medications from getting into the wrong hands and abusing them and keep you from polluting the environment because waste water treatment plants and septic systems are not designed to treat pharmaceutical waste. There will be several places around southern Illinois participating in this event Saturday from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Carmi – White County Sheriff’s Office located at 108 N. Main Cross
DuQuoin – DuQuoin Police Department located at 304 E. Poplar St.
Marion – Williamson County Sheriff’s office located at 407 N. Monroe St. and the Marion Police Department located at 217 N. Main
Mt. Vernon – Rend Lake College and the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office will have their event at Rend Lake College Marketplace located at 321 Potomac Blvd.
Pinckneyville – Pinckneyville Police Department located at 104 S. Walnut St. and at the Perry County Sheriff’s Office located at 12 E. Water St.
West City – West City Police Department located at 201 S. Browning St.
West Frankfort – West Frankfort Police Department located at 201 E. Nolan St.
