(SPARTA, IL) — An airplane made an emergency landing in Perry County Wednesday afternoon. Illinois State Police say around 4:15 p.m., a call came in from the Randolph County Sheriff’s Department about a possible air emergency. Its last known location was eight-and-a-half miles east of Sparta and was reported as having engine trouble. Officers found the Cessna 210 had landed safely in a farm field just off of Lost Prairie Road near Lilac Road just north of Illinois 154 in Perry County. The pilot, 33-year-old Ronald W. Coyne of Clarksville, TN, was not injured. He was the only person aboard the plane flying from Springfield, TN to St. Louis. No other details are available at this time.
