(SALEM, IL) — Bail has been set at $100,000 for a 55-year-old Kinmundy man held in the Marion County Jail on charges of criminal sexual assault and abuse. Terry Mulvaney, of Vermundy Road was arrested by Marion County Sheriff’s deputies over the weekend. Mulvaney was formally charged Monday morning in Marion County Court with Class 1 felony criminal sexual assault of a person unable to give consent, Class 2 felony aggravated criminal sexual abuse of a victim 5-years his junior and misdemeanor giving liquor to a minor. He is charged specifically with an alleged incident at his home over the summer involving a 16-year-old female friend of his son who was reportedly attending a party at the Mulvaney home. It is believed the girl may have been drugged, as she reportedly couldn’t remember what happened after she was given a drink. The allegations weren’t reported until Thursday when the girl told her parents and they took her to the Marion County Sheriff’s Office. Mulvaney was arrested Friday. He reportedly is employed by the Marion County Highway Department. If released on bond, Mulvaney is prohibited from having contact with anyone under the age of 18. He is next due in court September 29, for a first appearance with court appointed counsel.
