(MT. VERNON, IL) — On Sunday, September 6, 2015 around 1p.m., the Mt. Vernon Police Department received a report of retail theft at Lucky’s Liquors, 1713 S. 10th in Mt. Vernon. Upon investigation, a man was seen carrying an infant’s car seat with a blanket over the top of it. The man concealed liquor in the car seat and exited the store. He was seen arriving and leaving in a newer model gold Dodge Caravan with damage to the driver’s side front quarter panel. The Jefferson County Crime Stoppers posted two photographs showing the man and vehicle earlier on Tuesday. At 1:10 p.m., Dustin L Smith, 25 years of age, was taken into custody on a charge of retail theft. Smith was incarcerated in the Jefferson County Justice Center pending bond.
