Longshot Appeal

CHICAGO (AP) — Rod Blagojevich’s next attempt to appeal his corruption convictions could be a longshot. The U.S. Supreme Court accepts only around 80 cases a year out of more than 10,000 requests and favors cases that raise unique, weighty issues. A full appellate court said Wednesday it will not re-hear the imprisoned ex-governor’s appeal after a three-judge panel tossed out five of the 18 convictions.
