The Great Smoky Mountains may never be the same! The world’s fastest wood launched roller coaster will be known as “Lightning Rod” and will make its debut at Dollywood in March 2016.
At an estimated cost of $22 million, the ride will have a top speed of 73 mph. Lightning Rod will boast 3,800 feet of track with a pair of twin summits, two different 90+ degree banks, non-inverting half loop, and 12 total airtime moments. These features will add up to a total lift height of 206 feet and a total fall of 165 feet and a ride time of 3 minutes and 12 seconds.
The theme park was opened by Country legend Dolly Parton in 1986.
