Mt. Vernon Police along with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s High Risk Team conducted a search warrant at 810 S. 22nd Street in Mt. Vernon, after they say they learned methamphetamine was being manufactured at the residence. Authorities say they found an active meth lab, numerous meth manufacturing materials and Savannah Penland, 21, with two small children in the home. Penland was arrested and jailed at the Jefferson County Justice Center for Aggravated meth manufacturing, Possession of meth manufacturing materials, and child endangerment. The children were taken into protective custody. One other person is being sought in this investigation.

Another search warrant executed by the same teams yesterday at 309 Spruce Street recovered cocaine, cannabis, digital scales, packaging materials, money and a loaded handgun. Two adult males, Bryon Liddell, 41, Jerrett Spells, 31, were inside were arrested and jailed at the Jefferson County Justice Center on a charges of Possession of controlled substance with intent to deliver, possession of cannabis, and possession of drug equipment with other charges pending.
