CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — Another Illinois law enforcement agency has been found to have violated state public records laws by not releasing investigative records to the father of a 21-year-old Carbondale woman killed in a suspicious shooting. The Illinois Attorney General’s Office says Carbondale police must provide Larry Young with public records connected to its investigation of his daughter’s March 2012 death at the home of her ex-boyfriend, a former Carbondale police dispatcher. Molly Young’s case remains open after the state’s prosecutor couldn’t determine whether a single gunshot to her head was an accident, suicide or homicide. The state Public Access Bureau’s July 24 ruling follows a similar determination by that office earlier this month that State Police also violated the Freedom of Information Act by denying Larry Young’s records request.
