Deere Announces Q-C Layoffs

(Moline, IL) — It’s not the news John Deere workers wanted to hear. The Quad Cities farm machine maker announced yesterday it’s laying off 160 workers at its Moline plant. A company spokesman says the layoffs are part of an “inventory adjustment.” Deere says some other workers who were laid off earlier may now return to work. Deere officials say they expected sales between April and June to drop, and they have to manage their workforce numbers.
