Odin PD Investigate AC Theft

(ODIN, IL) — The Odin Police Department is looking for information regarding the theft Monday of a brand new portable air conditioning unit from the front porch of a home in Odin. According to Police Chief Joe Nix, the unit was delivered by UPS after 9 a.m. Monday. But when the owner came home around 12:45, the box on the porch was empty and crushed. Nix says the AC unit, valued at $400, was taken, but the cover and other items in the box were left. The Village of Odin is offering a reward for the return of the AC unit. Anyone with information regarding the location of the device is asked to contact the Village at 775-8460. Nix also reports up to 10 cars were broken into Saturday night, and that three juvenile males have been charged in connection with those break-ins. Two of the juveniles have been charged with vehicle burglary and one with possession of stolen property. According to Nix, his department recovered several stolen items, some of which have not been claimed. Contact the Village if you think some of those unclaimed items may belong to you.
