(FAIRFIELD, IL) — The Condition of Wayne White electric lineman Gerry Kinney has improved from critical to very serious. Officials at Wayne-White report Kinney underwent surgery Thursday evening, has been taken off a ventilator and is now conscious. Kinney was injured Thursday morning when he came into contact with a 7,200 volt power line, in a remote area near the Wayne-Marion county line. Kinney was airlifted from the scene to the burns unit of Mercy Hospital in St. Louis.
