Governor Rauner Signs Executive Order For State Hiring

(Springfield, IL) — State agencies will no longer need approval when hiring a non-politician. Governor Rauner signed an executive order yesterday that removes an order signed by former Governor Rod Blagojevich in 2003 that required state agencies to seek approval before hiring someone. Employers would have to submit an Electronic Personnel Action Request to the governor’s office. Rauner’s office said the old system was inefficient and led to the exchange of jobs for political support.
