(Fults, IL) — A pilot is safe after he was able to jump out of a plane that crashed in Monroe County. Officials say the 19-year-old began experiencing engine problems yesterday afternoon so he was told to bail out. The pilot jumped and landed with a parachute uninjured in a bean field. The plane crashed a couple of miles away, just north of the Village of Fults.
