(MT. VERNON, IL)– The City of Mt. Vernon will be converting the intersection of South 34th Street and Veteran’s Memorial Drive into a four-way stop intersection on Monday July 13th. Motorists will be required to stop in all four directions at the intersection, changeable message signs will be installed this week to notify drivers of the change. This action is being taken due to safety concerns for motorists and pedestrians using the intersection. Rumble strips will be added to Veteran’s Memorial Drive prior to the stop signs.
