(Chicago, IL) — A former U.S. House member from Illinois is facing scrutiny again after he failed to show up to an arraignment yesterday on federal tax charges. Mel Reynolds was indicted last month after authorities claim he didn’t file tax returns for four years in row. His lawyer said he wasn’t able to appear yesterday in Chicago federal court because he traveled overseas and his daughter became sick. He was expected to plead not guilty. A new hearing has been scheduled for July 30th.
