(SALEM, IL) — A multi-vehicle accident on U.S. Hwy 50 Tuesday morning happened almost exactly 24 hours after and in almost the same location as a 6-car accident Monday that left three people injured. Monday’s pileup happened just after 11 a.m. in front of the RP Lumber store between Salem and Odin, leaving U.S. Highway 50 closed between Odin and Selmaville Road, until nearly 6 p.m., when one lane of the highway was reopened for both east and westbound traffic. Two semi-trucks, a UPS truck and three cars were involved in yesterday’s accident. We’re waiting for details on Tuesday’s accident. The area does have some construction activity going on, right now. So drivers are urged to pay attention to the road, eliminate distractions, and obey speed limits as well as other traffic rules, to avoid more of what has become a rash of bad and sometimes tragic accidents in our area.
