Governor Rauner Promises State Paycheck During Possible Government Shutdown

(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner promises state workers that if there is a government shutdown due to no budget agreement being reached, they will get paid. He sent out an email yesterday, the eve of the last day of the 2015 fiscal year. Rauner’s statement conflicts with Attorney General Lisa Madigan’s legal position. She says if the Legislature and the governor don’t reach a budget by Wednesday, there will be no distribution of state paychecks.
