Congressional delegation salutes Blackhawks’ championship

CHICAGO (AP) — Add Illinois’ congressional delegation to the long list of Chicago Blackhawks fans celebrating the team’s Stanley Cup championship. The state’s entire House delegation on Tuesday introduced a House resolution in the team’s honor. The Blackhawks defeated the Tampa Bay Lightning June 15 to win the Stanley Cup for the third time in six years. Tens of thousands of fans celebrated the win with a parade and rally in Chicago on Thursday. The victory was especially sweet Monday for Democratic U.S. Rep. Mike Quigley of Chicago. The self-described “die-hard Blackhawks fan” and recreational hockey player won a wager he placed with members of Florida’s delegation, taking home cigars and Florida orange juice. Quigley says he couldn’t be more proud that the Stanley Cup “is back where it belongs, sweet home Chicago.”
