Cairo Man Formally Charged In Murder Case

(CAIRO, IL) — Formal charges have been filed against a Cairo man who allegedly shot another man to death Friday night in Cairo. WSIL-TV reports 18-year-old Marquad Harris faces five counts of murder for shooting and killing 34-year-old Christopher Nelson of Cairo. Nelson was pronounced dead at St. Francis Hospital in Cape Girardeau. Harris was arrested Saturday and is lodged in the Tri-County Detention Center. A preliminary hearing for Harris is set for June 30 at the Alexander County Courthouse in Cairo.
