CARBONDALE, Ill. (AP) — A Southern Illinois University graduate who works in the athletics costume industry is donating a new suit to her alma mater to replace its missing mascot. One of the two official Saluki mascot costumes at the Carbondale school has been missing from the campus athletics department since early June. The (Carbondale) Southern Illinoisan reports that Donna Nagel of Phoenix, Arizona, has enlisted her company FiberWorks to create a new Grey Dawg costume valued at $4,500. Athletics employees reported finding the mascot’s clothes stripped and body pieces gone while preparing for summer orientation. The university has offered an undisclosed reward for information leading to the costume’s return.
