(WEST FRANKFORT, IL) — The West Frankfort Park Board is expected to discuss a proposal between the park board and the city of West Frankfort that would give police full authority over the park in order to take care of major and minor incidents when it meets June 15. WSIL-TV reports safety concerns at the park have park officials looking to establish official police protection. Since the park is located outside of the city limits, police will respond, but there’s nothing they can do because the park is in Franklin County’s jurisdiction. Park officials would like to see the West Frankfort Police Department be the primary responders when crime happens at the park.
