(PERCY, IL) — Route 4 southeast of Percy is open again after a semi versus train accident closed the route Wednesday, and a hazardous materials crew responded to the scene. It happened just after noon Wednesday on Route 4, near the Randolph/Perry County line. Illinois State Police say Route 4 was closed at the railroad crossing, with traffic being diverted at Route 150 and at Pyatt-Cutler Road. According to Randolph County authorities, crews were dealing with a hazmat situation at the scene of the crash. It appeared the truck punctured the fuel tank on the locomotive, causing a leak. Three people were injured in the crash. The truck driver and two crew members on the train were taken to the hospital. State Police have identified the injured as 47-year-old train conductor James Wiggs of Dix, 64-year-old train engineer Dennis Johnson of Centralia, and the 27-year-old semi driver Orville Hobbs of Grand Tower.
