EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. (AP) — A construction worker killed while repaving a road on the campus of Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville has been identified as a 47-year-old O’Fallon man. Madison County Coroner Stephen Nonn told the Belleville News-Democrat Roger Kolweier died of blunt chest and abdominal trauma. An SIUE spokesman says Kolweier died Thursday afternoon. School officials say he was part of a Keller Construction crew from Glen Carbon. SIUE says heavy machinery used to compact gravel rolled down an embankment and struck Kolweier, throwing him into a ditch. Kolweier was pronounced dead at 4:45 p.m. Friday. His death will be investigated by campus police and the Occupational Safety and Health Administration.
