(INA, IL) — Campus officials at Rend Lake College say starting next month smoking will not be allowed at any of the college’s campuses. The ban includes the use of cigarettes, cigars, cigarillos, pipes, hookahs and e-cigarettes. You will still be able to smoke in your vehicle on campus, but officials ask that you leave it there. The college created the smoke-free policy in conjunction with a nationwide initiative called the Smoke-Free Campus Act. This initiative aims to nix all tobacco products consumed by students and faculty on community college campuses. The college also received a $5,000 grant from Legacy – a national public health organization – to help the campus go smoke-free. The money can be used to purchase signs and other promotional tools to remind students and faculty about the ban.
