TROY, Ill. (AP) — A Veterans of Foreign Wars post in southern Illinois plans to showcase World War I memorabilia at an open house. The Belleville News-Democrat reports the open house Saturday at the VFW post in Troy will feature items related to the late Walter Ellis Gaultney. Gaultney was a resident of Collinsville and Troy and railroad worker who died in 1966. He fought in France with the Army’s 11th Infantry Regiment, 5th Division. Gaultney’s uniform and medals will be displayed along with a portrait of him painted by Joseph Cummings Chase.
