(BENTON, IL) — A Washington State woman died after being hit by a semi shortly before 5 Wednesday afternoon at the northbound I-57 rest area just north of Benton. Franklin County Coroner Marty Leffler says 72-year-old Haley Olaphan of Spokane was returning with her husband to their semi when she was hit by a semi trying to park. She was taken by ambulance to Franklin Hospital where she was pronounced dead at 5:40 p.m. An autopsy is scheduled to take place this afternoon. Illinois State Police continue to investigate.
