(NEW BURNSIDE, IL) — One person died and three others suffered major injuries in a three-vehicle crash on U.S. 45 about a half-mile north of South Walnut Grove Road in Johnson County Wednesday. Illinois State Police say shortly after 11 a.m., 31-year-old Amy J. Sturms of Norris City was stopped by a flag person at a construction zone in that area while a semi, driven by 47-year-old Christopher F. Jones of Johnston City was coming to a stop behind Sturms. Another semi, driven by 58-year-old Ronald H. Parker of Dawson Springs, KY did not stop in time and struck the rear of the grain hopper Jones was pulling with his semi. Jones’ semi pushed into the rear of Sturms vehicle. Parker was pronounced dead at the scene by the Johnson County Coroner. Jones, Strums and a passenger in Strums’ vehicle, 31-year-old Amy Duncan of Norris City, were all taken by ambulance to a local hospital for treatment of their injuries.
