(East St. Louis, IL) — The owner of Casino Queen says it has plans to buy Fairmount Park Race Track if Illinois law is changed to allow slot machines at racetracks. CQ Holdings Inc., owner of the casino in East St. Louis, announced Tuesday that if things go their way it will operate Fairmount Park as a subsidiary. The racetrack’s current management team would stay in place. The plan would also need approval by the Illinois Gaming Board. Illinois lawmakers are considering a gambling expansion legislation that would include a Chicago casino. Racing industry officials want to include slots to keep up with states that already have paired casinos, or at least slot machines, with horse racing.
