(FAIRFIELD, IL) — According to police reports, a 10-year-old Fairfield boy escaped injury Sunday morning when the 4-wheeler he was riding was hit by a train near Airport Road. Police report that the boy jumped off the four-wheeler after it became stuck on the tracks at a makeshift crossing. Moments later, a westbound Norfolk Southern freight train struck the four-wheeler. The boy’s name is being withheld because he is a juvenile.
