Rauner Warns Lawmakers To Expect Long Session

(Springfield, IL) — Governor Rauner is warning lawmakers to expect a long session this summer if they don’t take up the controversial changes he’s proposing as part of his “turnaround agenda.” In an op-ed in a Springfield newspaper, Rauner says he’s concerned that the end of the legislative session is approaching and lawmakers aren’t focused on the reform items that he says his election shows the public wants. Democrats are dismissing the letter as further proof that Rauner doesn’t realize he can’t simply dictate his will to the legislature.
