New Mt. Vernon High School receives upgraded roads and sewers

(MT. VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council, on Monday evening, approved bids for the new high school project on Ambassador Road. The sewer project, which will add a sewer system to the school, was awarded to JK Trotter & Sons for $277,541.75. The sewer project will also be able to support any future additions to Ambassador Road. The upgrades to Ambassador Road were given to P.T. Simons Construction for $1,028,454.62. The upgrades will include: widening to three lanes, curb and gutters, a bike path, and an extra turn lane for Wells bypass. Both projects are expected to begin in early July and the road project is estimated to be completed by December 31.
