(MT.VERNON, IL) — The Mt. Vernon City Council is due to meet this evening at 7 p.m., with a public hearing slated for 6:30 p.m. to inform the public of the proposed application to the Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity and to the Illinois Housing Development Authority for Housing Rehabilitation Grants to provide safe and sanitary housing for low to moderate income residents within the target area of the City of Mt. Vernon. Among items on the regular agenda, the Council will hear bid results for the Ambassador Road sewer project, ask permission to seek bids for three new squad cars, the City Manager will give a capital projects report, and the City Attorney will give several readings and ordinances including a second reading of an ordinance fixing the salaries and benefits of certain employees of the City of Mt. Vernon and an ordinance approving a tax increment finance redevelopment agreement between the City of Mt. Vernon and Community First Bank of the Heartland. The meeting will be held at the Rolland W. Lewis Community Building at Veteran’s Park.
