(Carbondale, IL) — Carbondale police are warning people who want to use Craigslist to be extremely careful. This alert comes in light of the recent tragedy involving a Southern Illinois University at Edwardsville student, who was killed by someone he met on the online trade site. Police say there is always a risk in meeting people you don’t know. That goes for the buyer, as well as for the seller. Police Sergeant Corey Kemp says avoid meeting at a home. He says the best location is one with an open space with witnesses like a parking lot or grocery store. Kemp says it would also be wise to select a police station as a point of exchange.
