(Wood River, IL) — The five-year-old son of a Wood River cop has been severely injured after being attacked by the family’s dog. Police say the 120 pound English Mastiff mauled the boy Wednesday afternoon at a home on the 100 block of Grand Avenue. Paramedics found the boy unresponsive when they arrived at the scene. The dog has been put down. The child was airlifted to an area hospital.
