(Mount Vernon, IL) — A Mount Vernon man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for shooting and injuring a teen during a dispute last winter. Ashton Trotter pleaded guilty Monday to battery with a firearm. Two lesser charges were dropped in exchange for the defendant’s plea. Prosecutors say the 17-year-old victim was shot while sitting in his car and was taken the hospital to get treated for his injuries.
