(MARION, IL) — A McLeansboro man accused of shooting and killing a Marion Man Monday night made his first court appearance in Williamson County Court Wednesday. Thirty-four-year-old Jack Thomas, Jr., is charged with killing 30-year-old Michael Reed following an argument between the two men at Reed’s home located in the 300 block of West College Street Monday night. Thomas is charged with three counts of first-degree murder. If convicted, he could spend the next 25 years to life in prison. Police say Thomas shot Reed several times. Reed was taken to Heartland Regional Medical Center in Marion where he died Tuesday. The truck Thomas was driving was found Tuesday in rural Hamilton County. Police arrested Thomas Tuesday afternoon in Carmi. He remains lodged in the Williamson County Jail on $1 million bond. He will be back in court May 18.
