Amtrak Will Continue Pet-Friendly Rides

(Springfield, IL) — Amtrak will continue going to the dogs and the passenger rail service says that’s a good thing. Amtrak and the Illinois Department of Transportation say they will continue a pilot program that allows passengers to bring small pets on trips from Chicago to several downstate locations. Since last year, some 200 people have paid 25-dollars to bring pets under 20-pounds with them on the Amtrak lines running from Chicago to Quincy and Carbondale. Amtrak says there have been no complaints or incidents, so the service will continue as a pilot program but could be made permanent.
