Push For Bill That Makes Banks Report Minority Loans

(Springfield, IL) — A state legislator from Chicago wants community banks to provide more loans to minorities, women and small businesses. Illinois representative Monique Davis is sponsoring a proposed bill that will require lending institutions to report the number of loans requested and handed out. She says the legislation is designed to make sure those groups are treated fairly. Those opposing the bill say it would hurt small banks that already face plenty of regulations.
