IMRF Not Affected By The Pension Crisis

(MT. VERNON, IL) — Louis Kosiba, the executive director of the IMRF, stopped by the WMIX studios amidst their annual meetings with employers in Jefferson County. Kosiba said the IMRF is not affected by the recent pension crisis created by the problems in the state budget. IMRF is not included in the state budget and is funded by employee contribution, employers, and investment returns. The IMRF has about $35 billion in assets, in 2014 they made over 2 billion dollars. The IMRF has about 90,000 people in retirement and 550 people in Jefferson County.
