(SPRINGFIELD, IL) — Today is the 150th anniversary of Abraham Lincoln’s death. In Lincoln’s hometown of Springfield, a series of events are underway to honor the man who forever changed the course of the country. In the state capital, the Navy will conduct a flyover while a military brass band plays. Lincoln was shot in the head while attending a play at Washington, DC’s Ford’s Theater. He was shot on April 14th, 1865 and died the next morning.
